CBD Isolate Powder Dosage: A Complete Guide
February 25, 2022Can Consumers trust THC Free CBD Oil
July 25, 2022Cannabidiol CBD is one of the major constituent compound found in hemp plant. And because of its numerous potential benefits, it is usually incorporated as a vital ingredient in most food products like beverages and as well as products for healthy living.
If you’ve ever checked up on cannabidiol on the web, you obviously would have be familiar with the term CBD oil. This term has being used interchangeably with CBD so many times. This is due to the fact that CBD extracts from cannabis or hemp plant is oily in nature.
The CBD market is a multibillion dollar market and gets even more value by the day. With the bulk of information made available to manufacturers and consumers, it promises even more growth to the industry.
Bioavailability
One major challenge we have with CBD oils is that the bioavailability levels are quite low, meaning the rate of absorption into the blood stream is poor. Oil based CBD products do not effectively get absorbed and most of them leaves the body unused.
Poor bioavailability is basically the major challenge faced with oil based CBD products. Most of the channels or routes of absorption have proven to be prodigal in the course of ingesting CBD into the blood stream. Vaping is the only effective channel of absorption for oil based CBD. It does this by atomisation which aids the oil based CBD to be conveyed by tiny particles so as to easily get absorbed into the body by inhalation through the lungs.
Also the human body contains about 60% of water and this is why these oil based CBD cannot easily be ingested.
This inability of the body to ingest CBD effectively into led to the discovery of water soluble CBD. This formulation has been around for a few years now and as a company we are proud of the challenges it has helped us surmount.
What is water soluble CBD.
In reality, CBD is almost completely insoluble in water and we could label it as a hydrophobic compound. There are several techniques we can adopt to infuse CBD in solvents or aqueous solutions to avoid floatation of CBD as powder on the surface of the solvent.
We employ a very special technique in the creation of our water soluble CBD. This technique is referred to as the Nano-emulsification process. There are several other very reliable techniques but we choose to use this method as a company.
In this process, CBD is mixed with an oil carrier and they stay as liquids at room temperature and also at higher temperatures range. This mixture is then fused with emulsifiers. Emulsification acts at the surface between oil and water to make stable the droplets. The oily state is then combined with water and they are thoroughly mixed up to form an emulsion which is coarse in nature. This coarse emulsion then undergoes nano-emulsification with the aid of a high pressure emulsifier to form tiny droplets which remain stable for a while without floating, convening or forming sediments.
This methods of creating water soluble CBD is has its merits and demerits.
Nano emulsions are characterised by a high measure of stability and as a result, they do not get chemically bonded with formulations. Most liquids or partial solids blends very well with nano emulsions and for bioavailability level, there is a high rate of absorption into the blood stream.
However, the creation of this tiny nano sized droplets of oil using high pressure emulsifiers require huge amount of energy. Also this technique cannot not be used with products that are dry. Also when solids are present in products, it may result in oil droplets recombining.
Other techniques includes esterification, stabilised suspensions, micelle and liposomes. All of this techniques have their own pros and cons, but we are convinced that the results are not appreciably different for each other.
Advantages of water soluble CBD
Water soluble CBD reveals several amazing advantages in comparison with the oil based CBD.
- They are effective and they are characterised by minimal wastage. Since the bioavailability level is high, more of the product is absorbed into the body. This implies less wastage.
- They are versatile and they offer very good value for money.
